| 1. |
|
Scrape up any solids with a blunt knife or spoon and blot up liquids with clean, white cloth or tissues. |

|
Sponge with a detergent solution - either a teaspoon of washing powder dissolved in 1/2 pint lukewarm water or a solution of carpet shampoo, diluted as per the manufacturer's instructions. |

|
Sponge with an ammonia solution - one tablespoon of household ammonia in one cup of warm water. Blot the carpet dry. |
| 4. |
|
Repeat step 2 above. |
| 5. |
|
Rinse with clean, lukewarm water and blot dry. |
| 6. |
|
Brush up pile and cover with clean, white cloth or tissues until dry. |
