Carpet is a luxurious yet practical floor covering. It makes a home feel more welcoming as well as cushioning the sound of footsteps and keeping in warmth. With just a little care, your new Victoria carpet will give you many years of service and comfort. This section aims to help you get the most out of your carpet and keep it looking good for years to come. Use the ‘Stain Removal Chart’ on the right as a general guide to stain removal. But please note that should any stain persist please consult a professional carpet cleaner
From time to time, your carpet will benefit from a thorough deep clean. There are a number of very effective shampoos and powders available, but do make sure you follow the manufacturer's instructions. If you are unsure about tackling it yourself, call in a professional carpet cleaner.
All new wool carpets do have a certain amount of fluff consisting of short lengths of fibre, which may be shed from the carpet and that do not reach the base of the carpet itself. These slight fragments of fibre do tend to come out of the carpet pile with general use. Fibre shedding is a normal characteristic of a wool carpet and as long as sufficent maintenance is carried out, i.e regular vacuuming, this will diminish over time.
Vacuum your carpet on a regular basis as this will reduce dust and dirt, prolonging the life of your carpet. Heavy traffic areas should be vacuumed daily. For cut pile carpets, we recommend the use of an upright cleaner with an active beater bar, as this will help loosen and lift soiling from the pile. For loop pile carpets, we recommend the use of a suction vacuum cleaner with no beater bar. The use of vacuum cleaners with a beater bar on a loop pile carpet may cause the carpet's to "pill" or fuzz.
Dirt and grit are your carpet's worst enemies. Protect your carpet by placing doormats at entrances and using plastic runners in wet weather.
If you should have to deal with any snags or pulls, never try to pull out the tufts. Gently snip them off with a pair of scissors. This will not in any way effect the structure of the carpet pile.
